Palantir Design Challange

At a Palantir hackathon, I participated in a two-hour challenge to enhance the efficiency of the Kitchen Operations team. This team manages the preparation of meals in the kitchen, their transportation to the cafeteria, and their setup for buffet-style service for employees.

Key Objectives:

  • Streamline communication and workflows between chefs, transport staff, and serving teams.

  • Optimize inventory management to prevent shortages.

  • Provide real-time insights into meal preparation, transportation progress, and buffet readiness.

My Contribution:

Quick Discovery & Research

Objective:

  • Understand the needs of chefs, kitchen staff, and management.

  • Identify pain points in managing inventory, tracking orders, and monitoring team performance.

Activities:

  • Stakeholder Interviews: Interview chefs and serving team members to understand their workflows.

  • User Personas: Define personas such as “Chef,” “Kitchen Manager,” and “Serving Staff.”

  • Contextual Inquiry: Observe how users interact with current tools or workflows.

Deliverables:

  • Pain Points: Example—"It's difficult to track inventory that’s running low in real time."

  • Goals: Provide real-time, actionable insights for inventory, team management, and order tracking.
